Plugging In at Lakeside UMC

You are Welcome at Worship

The first step of discipleship at Lakeside UMC is simply joining us for Sunday worship. We offer an 8:30 and 10:30 am service and they both center around a focused worship series theme that typically spans a 3 to 6 weeks. You can expect a friendly church and a meaningful worship experience.

First Steps Class

Every few months, Pastor Andrew offers a “First Steps” Sunday School Class that introduces Lakeside UMC to new members, perspective members, or people interested in getting more involved in our church. The “First Steps” class begins at 9:30 am in the Sanctuary and focuses on discipleship pathways available at Lakeside UMC, the general doctrines of United Methodist denomination, and finding your place within our community.

Sunday Bible Study Grow Group Classes

We also offer Adult, Youth, and Children’s Sunday School Grow Group Classes that meet in between worship services at 9:30 am. This provides a great time for the whole family to grow closer in their relationship with God through instructional curriculum that is tailored to each age group. These classes meet at various locations within the church.

Weekday Grow Groups

Bible studies and accountability are critical to discipleship at Lakeside UMC. Beyond our Sunday Bible Study Grow Groups, we also have a Women’s Bible Study Grow Group that meets at 6:00 pm every other Tuesday evening. And our Men’s Grow Group meets bright and early on Friday mornings at 6:00 am for fellowship and breakfast. We also provide mid-week Bible Studies for adults that meets every other Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm. This mid-week ministry for adults is led by Rev. Andrew Payne. Finally, we also invite Youth to attend a mid-week “REFUEL” Bible Study every other Wednesday. Youth in middle school meet at 6:30 pm while high school youth convene at 7:15 pm. Both mid-week Youth studies are led by our amazing Youth Director, Madison Wentworth.

Joining the Church

Becoming a member of the church essentially means vowing to partner with our church in its ministries and work for the Kingdom of God. We ask all who join to take a vow to commit their “prayers, presence (participation), gifts, service and witness.”

If you are interested in joining, please speak with Rev. Andrew Payne before service or come up during the final Song of Praise performed at the end of service.  It is not necessary to join in front of the congregation if that is something you do not want to do. If you would rather join more privately, simply speak to Rev. Andrew Payne.

Lakeside believes that children are a gift from God.  We are a neighborhood church with a family atmosphere. We are not a church of strangers. We offer ministries for children of all ages.  Our weekly focus for children’s ministry is on Sundays with children’s Sunday school and children’s church.  We also have Kindle Kids on Wednesday Nights and the Bridge, a group for older elementary kids. Throughout the year we have movie nights and family activities of all kinds.
