Getting Involved

Coming to Worship

The first step of discipleship at Lakeside UMC is simply joining us for Sunday worship. We offer an 8:30 and 10:30 am service and they both center around a worship series and theme that typically spans a few weeks. You can expect a friendly church and a meaningful worship experience.

First Steps Class

Every few months, we offer a First Steps class that introduces Lakeside UMC to new members, perspective members, or people interested in getting more involved in our church. The First Steps class begins at 9:30 am in the Sanctuary. It is led by Rev. Andrew Payne and focuses on Lakeside UMC, United Methodist doctrines, and finding your place within our community.

Sunday School Classes

We also offer Adult Sunday School classes that meet in between worship services at 9:30 am. They run in parallel with our Children’s and Youth Sunday School classes, so it is a great time for the whole family to grow in their relationship with God. The classes meet at various locations within and around the church.

Bible Study

Bible studies and accountability are critical to discipleship at Lakeside UMC. We have a Women’s Bible Study group that meets at 6:00 pm every other Tuesday night. And our Men’s Group meets at 6:00 am every Friday for breakfast.
We also provide a mid-week Bible Study for both men and women that meets every other Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm. This mid-week ministry is led by Rev. Andrew Payne.

Joining the Church

Becoming a member of the church essentially means vowing to partner with our church in its ministries and work for the Kingdom of God. We ask all who join to take a vow to commit their “prayers, presence (participation), gifts, service and witness.”
If you are interested in joining, please speak with Rev. Andrew Payne before service or come up during the final Song of Praise performed at the end of service.  It is
necessary to join in front of the worshiping congregation if that is not something you want to do. If you would rather join more privately, simply speak to Rev. Andrew Payne.

Lakeside Little Learners is a pre-school program in Summerwood that teaches God’s love along with social skills and academics.

 Lakeside Children’s Ministries

Lakeside believes that children are a gift from God.  We are a neighborhood church with a family atmosphere. We are not a church of strangers. We offer ministries for children of all ages.  Our weekly focus for children’s ministry is on Sundays with children’s Sunday school and children’s church.  We also have Kindle Kids on Wednesday Nights and the Bridge, a group for older elementary kids. Throughout the year we have movie nights and family activities of all kinds.
