Hope Has An Address

It is hard to overstate the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the world. Our community, just like countless others, is struggling as well. Lakeside believes part of our mission is to serve Christ and provide hope for our brother and sisters. This page includes several ways you can be a part of God’s answer to prayer.
Lakeside will have more options to help out in the days to come. Today we are asking you to help with making Facemasks and addressing the food shortage in our community. [Updated April 30, 2020]

Lakeside, in partnership with Houston Responds, is asking our members and community to make facemasks in the Facemasks for All Campaign. As I city, we are trying to produce 1,000,000 masks, and we believe Lakeside can make a substantial contribution towards that goal. They are asking congregations to make at least 200 masks. Given how Lakeside has responded in crises in the past, we believe we will be able to meet that goal.

How do I make a face mask?

There are many resources for how to make Facemasks; the CDC has provided the following instructions.

Where do I take the masks?

You can drop the masks off at the church. Currently, we will take them to another location. However, we are in the process of becoming an official drop off location ourselves.

I don’t want to leave my house, can I help?

Yes, we will come pick up the masks from you. Contact Jennifer at the church office at church@thelakesideumc.org.

We have been in contact with our long-time community partner Humble Area Assistance Ministries (HAAM). Because they have not been able to accept donations, they have critical needs. We want to respond. They are in urgent needs of:
  • Boxed Meals like Mac and Cheese and Hamburger helper.
  • Dried Beans
  • Apple Sauce Cups
  • Boxed Cereal (please no bags!)
  • Oatmeal
  • Dried Milk
  • Toiletries

We have two options for getting these donations to HAAM.

Buy items when you are out and drop them off at the church. We will keep a box in front of the church Monday-Thursday from 9 am to 2 pm (We take the box in after that because of raccoons!).

Make a special donation, and we will go shopping and buy the items for delivery.  Go to our online giving page and donate. Please choose “special gift” and in the description box to the right put “HAAM.”
