Poinsettia Sales
Poinsettias are a beautiful flower whose leaves represent the Star of Bethlehem. We use them to celebrate Christmas and honor the memory of loved ones. If you purchase poinsettas from Lakeside they will go to decorate the sanctuary for Advent and Christmas. You can pick them up after the Christmas Eve service. If you wish to order a poinsettia plant for our 2023 Christmas services, please complete this Order Form and return it with payment to Jennifer Enochs on or before Tuesday, December 19th. Please limit the memorialized and/or honored names to two people per plant, if possible. There is a limited amount this year, the price is $12.00 per plant and we can accept cash, check online (thelakesideumc.org) or Zelle. Checks can be made payable to: Lakeside UMC. Please note Poinsettia Sale on payment. For more infomation visit:

After Advent
Dear Lakeside Family, Happy Advent! We are in the throughs of Advent. We remember our call to wait, not on the sideslines, but in the reality of the Kingdom of Heaven even as we strive on earth. But what about after Advent?!? We have a challenge to continue to grow in our faith and in our relationship with God. One important way we can do that is through reading and reflecting on Scripture. Yet, daily reading can seem daunting. Where should you start and how should you proceed? If you ever asked that question, I have good news for you. If you have ever wished you had support in your reading journey, I have good news for you too. Mark your calendars, in the year 2024, we will have a Bible reading campaign to read the New Testament in a year: Lakeside NT24. The New Testament is made up of 260 chapters. Next year their will be 262 weekdays. All you have to do is read a chapter every weekday, rest and reflect on the weekends and you can read the New Testament in a year. We will chart the path together. I will give you practices, lessons, and sermons, to help you decipher and reflect on what you read. According to scripture and data from the Renovo survey, this is a major way we can grow in our faith and experience more hope in Christ. I hope you will join in the challenge. We will have reading plans at church, to stick in your Bible, and we will have them posted online for our Bible app folks, so that you can start 2024 with a Game Plan for Growth. Grace and Peace, David PS: Here is a link to a brief journal for reflection your own quiet reflection during Advent. |
