BBQ Potluck

BBQ Potluck

Spring Gathering - Sunday, March 1, 2026

REGISTER HERE: Churchwide Potluck • Sunday, March 1

Everyone is invited to stay after worship on Sunday, March 1 for a churchwide potluck lunch! This will be a relaxed, come-as-you-are gathering as we share food, conversation, and time together as a church family.

In honor of Texas Independence Day (March 2), we’re leaning into a Texas-style BBQ potluck. If you’re able, bring anything BBQ — main dishes, classic sides, or desserts all welcome. Brisket, pulled pork, beans, potato salad, cobbler, cookies… it all fits.

More than the food, this is about community — a chance to meet new faces, reconnect with old friends, and spend unhurried time together. Whether you’re new to Lakeside or have been here for years, there’s a place for you at the table.

Bring a dish if you can, or just bring yourself — there will be plenty to share. All are welcome, and we hope you’ll join us for this time of fellowship and celebration.

Egg Hunt and Family Gathering

Egg Hunt and Family Gathering

As we prepare our hearts for Holy Week, we are excited to celebrate Palm Sunday with joy, worship, and a special event for our children and families!

On Palm Sunday, immediately following worship, Lakeside United Methodist Church will host our annual Easter Egg Hunt. This is always a beautiful day in the life of our church—waving palm branches in worship and then watching our children run with laughter and excitement as we celebrate the hope and new life we have in Christ.

To make this event a success, we need your help!

We Are Collecting Pre-Filled Easter Eggs

We are asking families and church members to donate pre-filled plastic Easter eggs. To keep things simple and safe, please fill eggs with:

  • Individually wrapped candy
  • Stickers
  • Small toys or trinkets

(Please avoid chocolate if possible, as it melts easily.)

You can drop off donations in the church office or place them in the designated collection bin in the lobby in the coming weeks.

Our goal is to create a joyful and welcoming experience for every child who attends. Your generosity helps us extend hospitality not only to our church families but also to guests who may be joining us for the first time.

Palm Sunday reminds us that Jesus entered Jerusalem surrounded by celebration and anticipation. As we prepare for Easter morning, this egg hunt is one small but meaningful way we share that same spirit of joy with the next generation.

Thank you for helping us make this a wonderful day for our children and our community!

Calling Creative Youth: Help Tell the Lakeside Story

Calling Creative Youth: Help Tell the Lakeside Story

Do you have a high school student who loves creating videos, designing graphics, taking photos, or coming up with fun social media ideas? Lakeside is inviting our youth to use their creativity and voice to help shape how we share the story of our church online.

We are launching a Youth Social Media Content Creator Interest opportunity for high school students who want to help create content for Lakeside’s social media platforms. This is a chance for students to:

  • Use their creative gifts in a meaningful, faith-centered way

  • Learn practical skills in content creation, storytelling, and digital communication

  • Be part of a team that helps represent Lakeside to our wider community

  • Earn service hours and gain experience that can be valuable for school, college, or future careers

Youth will never be asked to manage accounts independently or post without adult guidance. This opportunity will be supervised and designed to be fun, collaborative, and age-appropriate.

Parents and students are encouraged to scan the QR code and complete the interest form to let us know who might like to participate. Completing the form does not commit your student—it simply helps us gauge interest and plan next steps.

We believe God has given our youth powerful voices and creative minds. This is one way they can help share faith, joy, and community beyond the walls of the church.

Help Us Support Our Youth

Help Us Support Our Youth

At Lakeside, we believe our youth are not only the future of the church—they are a vital part of the church right now. Our students are involved in sports, fine arts, clubs, service organizations, and community activities that shape who they are becoming. We want to celebrate them, pray for them, and show up for them in meaningful ways.

To do that well, we need your help.

We are asking all parents and guardians to complete the Youth Photo Consent & Community Organization Form (accessible by scanning the QR code). This short form serves two important purposes:

  1. Photo & Video Consent – It allows us to responsibly share photos and videos of youth activities for church communications and social media, helping us tell the story of what God is doing in and through our young people.

  2. Community Involvement Survey – It helps us learn where our youth are already active so we can better support them as a church—through prayer, encouragement, presence, and witness the things that bring them joy.

When we know where our youth are spending their time, we can be more intentional about being the body of Christ beyond Sunday mornings.

Please take a few moments this week to scan the QR code and complete the form for each child or youth in your household. Your participation helps Lakeside walk alongside your family and cheer on our students wherever they are growing and serving.

Thank you for partnering with us as we seek to love, support, and invest in our youth—together.

Childrens Ministry Volunteers

Childrens Ministry Volunteers

Lakeside’s Children’s Ministry is a place where faith is planted, curiosity is welcomed, and children are reminded that they are deeply loved by God and by their church family. Each Sunday, we have the joy of walking alongside our youngest disciples as they learn Bible stories, ask big questions, and experience God’s love in age-appropriate and meaningful ways.

We are seeking volunteers who are willing to share their time, care, and encouragement with our children. You don’t need to be a teacher or Bible expert—just someone with a willing heart and a desire to make a difference.

Volunteers help in a variety of ways, including assisting on Sunday mornings, supporting special events, and creating a safe, welcoming environment for kids and families. Schedules are flexible, and training and support are provided.

When you serve in Children’s Ministry, you’re doing more than filling a role—you’re helping shape faith, build confidence, and create a church where families feel at home. Even a small commitment can have a lasting impact.

If you’d like to learn more or are interested in serving, we’d love to talk with you. Please fill out an interest form, reach out to the church office, or speak with a member of the Children’s Ministry team.

Thank you for helping Lakeside be a place where children are known, loved, and encouraged to grow in faith.

Lakeside Women's Group

Lakeside Women's Group

Perfectly Flawed - Sunday, March 1, 2026

We will start the Ladies Group back up with a Lenten study. We will start on Feb 22 after church and end the week of March 29. Please read the first week for discussion on the 22nd.

In the six-week Bible study Perfectly Flawed, we see that there is an unparalleled power Jesus gives that can only be found in our weakness. We discover the strength of Jesus that is available to each of us. Learn to persevere in your faith, live confidently, and boldly step into God’s purpose for you. See how Peter’s story invites us to embrace imperfection, find strength in the relentless grace of God, and discover that each of us is perfectly flawed yet deeply loved by God.

It is a commitment from January to May on Sundays.  There are weeks off (when we have school breaks) and grace, but your teen is expected to make every effort to attend all the classes.  Confirmation Sunday will be on May 17th.
